Barrio de Santa Cruz, in Alicante.
The most beautiful area of Alicante is without a doubt Barrio de Santa Cruz, also known as El Barrio by the inhabitants. It is striking that you see little or no tourists walking around here. Fortunately, since the

Markets on the Costa Blanca
Firstly, markets on the Costa Blanca are the meeting place for young and old. For the poor and rich. For “washed up” and the locals.
Moreover if there is one thing for sure now = Spain is known for its street markets.
After all, every city or village has an open air market. They usually still have a centrally covered market in a designated building.
Consequently the nice thing is, you can go to the market every day on the sunny Costa Blanca.
But of course we have made it easy for you.
Below is a list of the markets on the Costa Blanca and various places.
The choice is yours.
Indeed, the markets are the places to enjoy the local culture and eating habits.
In short, take your time and you will find everything and more that you have been looking for.
Of course there are all kinds of fruits and vegetables for sale on the markets. But also clothing, white goods, shoes, etc.
What we like best is making a real trip out of it and also exploring the town or village. This way you will definitely discover “real Spain”.
In the meantime, you can also explore the small bars and restaurants. So, be sure to be seduced by the different tapas. Since they differ from village to village. In addition, always extremely cheap.
For example, we usually pay 1.50 to 2 euros for a drink and a delicious tapa.
But now back to the markets full of colors and scents.

Guest Reviews
Positive: It was our sixth time that we visited Casa El Rais. Time and again we were surprised by the hospitality of Martine & Eddy. It is a dream to stay there. Neat and very spacious rooms, good food, very quiet and beautiful surroundings.
Negative: I have not noticed anything that could come across as negative …. great stay
Positive: it was veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyy and frightening good…. indeed highly recommended Do sooooooo further Martine and Eddy…. we’ll definitely be back
Negative: once you’ve been there, people don’t want to leave anymore
B&B is on top of a mountain with a beautiful swimming pool and spacious rooms. The room that we had had the theme China was very spacious with large bathroom. Martine and Eddy have a good breakfast. There is also the possibility to have dinner in the evening. Martine has very extensive information on trips and places of interest in the region. Was a very pleasant stay for us.
Due to misery with the apartment in Torreviejo we ended up here unexpectedly … and what a lucky thing that was! Fortunately we had a GPS with us that you can set according to length and width because otherwise it is hard to find. This is a beautiful house with beautiful rooms that are rented out. Everything was great. The owners (Belgians) are super hospitable, so are the 4 dogs that walk around (which took some getting used to). Lovely swimming pool, sun beds, nice view, good breakfast, great bathroom with rain shower … and lots of rest … what more do you want. Highly recommended if you do not want to sit at the busy costa.
Positive: Quiet, very cordial and nice reception, happy enjoyment without obligations. Going this year for the 4th time.
Negative: Great difficulty in going back to Belgium! 😁
Positive: We enjoyed a fantastic stay there! Very quiet and beautiful environment, pleasant reception. It was just like we had been here before. The feeling of “coming home” immediately overwhelmed us. Very nice and tidy room that was cleaned daily. Overall a successful holiday that I would recommend to everyone!
Negative: I would not find one immediately!
